A vision on digital pharma

As opposed to other industries, the pharmaceutical industry is excessively regulated with regard to marketing of products. In particular the desirable ability to directly interact with patients is limited as even any kind of information provision on ethical products is prohibited. 

On behalf of a Bayer Healthcare, the Competence Center Digital Consumer Business has developed a vision of “what could be possible if there was no regulation at all”. The vision features the usage of different types of wearables, medical devices, mobile apps, and consumer platforms, in order to build up a beneficial and easy to use mobile health information system for consumers, physicians, and pharmacists. Despite the regulatory issues selected ideas could eventually find their way to become part of a digitized pharma industry.
